Blippstation licence
Version 1
Blippstation Licence
Version 1, 31 October 2026
Copyright (c) 2026 Devolent AB. All rights reserved.
Blippstation, meaning Blippstation Flasher, its command-line version and the program that runs on the Raspberry Pi, with their installers, documentation and updates (the "Software"), belongs to Devolent AB, Sweden ("Devolent"). The Software is free of charge, but it is licensed, not sold. By installing or using it you accept this licence. "You" means the person using the Software or, when it is used for an organisation, that organisation. "Your organisation" includes the companies in its corporate group.
1. What you may do
If you got the Software from Devolent, directly or through your organisation, you may, for any purpose including commercial work:
a. install and run it on any number of computers and Raspberry Pi devices, and write it to any number of SD cards;
b. let your organisation's employees and contractors use it for your organisation, and let anyone scan a card at a station your organisation runs; and
c. copy it and its installers as far as that needs, including keeping backups and deploying it inside your organisation, for example from an internal file share or with software deployment tools.
2. What you may not do
You may not:
a. give, sell, rent, lend, sublicense, publish or otherwise pass on the Software or its installers to anyone outside your organisation, whether unchanged, changed or as part of something else, including on an SD card or a device, by offering them for download or in a package repository;
b. modify, decompile or reverse-engineer the Software, except where the law gives you a right to do so that cannot be waived; or
c. remove or alter its copyright notices.
Anyone else who wants the Software must get it from Devolent. To do something this licence does not allow, ask at support@devolent.com.
3. Ownership and open-source components
Devolent keeps every right it does not grant in this licence. The Software includes open-source components. Each of them stays under its own licence, which applies to that component in place of this one; they are listed in the notices that come with the Software. Ubuntu, which the flasher downloads from Canonical and writes to the SD card, is not part of the Software and comes under its own licences.
4. Your responsibility
The flasher erases everything on the SD card or disk you choose, so choosing the right one is up to you. You are responsible for having the right to use the networks and services you connect the Software to, and for what you do with the card numbers it reads. A card number can be personal data, and handling it lawfully is your responsibility, not Devolent's.
5. No warranty
The Software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. Devolent does not promise that it will work without errors, and has no duty to provide support or updates. A station tries once to deliver each scan and does not keep one that fails, so do not rely on it where a lost scan could cause harm.
6. Liability
Devolent is not liable for any direct or indirect loss or damage arising from the Software or its use, including lost data, lost scans, lost profit and interruption of business. This does not limit liability for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law.
7. When this licence ends
This licence ends automatically if you break it. You must then stop using the Software and delete your copies. Sections 5, 6 and 8 continue to apply. A later version of the Software may come with a later version of this licence.
8. Law and disputes
Swedish law governs this licence, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and disputes are decided by the courts of Sweden. If you are a consumer, this leaves your rights under mandatory law unaffected.
